- Minoan Group said the Greek government's fast tracking of its Crete development project has been appealed against over the justification and process followed in awarding it that status.

"The appeal does not mean any legal delay in the permitting process and the company continues to prepare the relevant environmental studies for submission to the competent authorities on an unchanged timetable," Minoan said in a statement.

It added that the project, centred outside the town of Sitia in eastern Crete, otherwise enjoyed overwhelming support.

The appeal grounds relate to the justification of, and the process followed by, the Inter-Ministerial Committee in their decision to include the project in Fast Track, Minoan said.

An appeal hearing was set for April 5.
