The euro remained lower on Thursday morning after employment fell more than expected in the 17-member eurozone during the final quarter of 2012. Eurostat reported that employment fell 0.3% in the final quarter of 2012 compared to decline of 0.1% in the previous quarter which had been revised from a 0.2% decline.

The Stoxx Europe 600 Index (SXXP) gained 0.5 percent to 296.97. In commodity markets, WTI for April delivery rose as much as 50 cents to $93.02 a barrel. Brent for May settlement, the most actively traded contract, was up 1 cent at $108.25.
Gold traded near a two-week high as U.S. Spot gold traded little changed at $1,588.25 an ounce.
