StockMarketWire.com - Petra Diamonds said it had completed the sale of diamond assets in South Africa to a joint venture between the company and Ekapa Mininig for around 300m rand (£17m).

The assets included Petra and its black economic empowerment partners' 75.9% interest in the KEM joint venture.

KEM was a joint venture between Petra and Ekapa Mining that incorporated the Kimberley underground mine, tailings re- treatment programmes and a central treatement plant.

The disposal was on a going concern basis, with Ekapa Mining taking on all of the company's financial, employee, environmental, health, safety and social obligations with regards to the KEM JV operation.
