StockMarketWire.com - Ormonde Mining said construction of the Barruecopardo tungsten project in Salamanca, Spain was progressing in line with guidance, with first production expected from the beginning of February.

Ormonde owns a 30% stake in the project.

Recent progress included the nearing of completion of a crush and screen plan, the company said.

Installation of equipment and supporting structures were also almost complete at the process plant, while pipework and electrical installations jobs were 'very advanced'.

Commissioning of the water treatment plant had been completed.

'With substantial progress made on construction activities during the quarter, the project has now entered a transition period as construction activities begin to wind down and mine commissioning activities ramp up significantly,' chairman Michael Donoghue said.

'It is particularly pleasing to have recently completed the recruitment of the first wave of plant operators, and to see the commencement of process plant commissioning.'
