StockMarketWire.com - Bespoke software systems company SCISYS said on Thursday it had been awarded a €5m contract by Spanish aerospace and defence group GMV.

The contract, which would start this month and continue to December 2020, was for the continuation and further enhancement of three elements in the Galileo Ground Control Segment. It would involve enhanced functions, improved security and cyber resilience capabilities in the next phase of the Galileo programme.

Galileo is Europe's global navigation satellite system, providing a highly accurate, guaranteed global positioning service under civilian control. GMV is the prime contractor for the Ground Control System to the European Space Agency. SCISYS said the contract win strengthened its position as an expert software supplier to Galileo.

"This contract win underlines the strong position that SCISYS Space holds in the European Space industry," said Klaus Heidrich, CEO of SCISYS.
