StockMarketWire.com - A purple potato which is claimed to be healthier to eat than the normal varieties is going on sale in UK supermarkets.

Developed at Colorado State University in the U.S. the purple potato is being grown in Scotland by producer Albert Bartlett, which has its headquarters in Airdrie.

The first crop will go on sale this week in Sainsbury's stores in Scotland and the South East of England.
