- PRE-OPEN REPORT: The headline index is tipped to open slightly higher this morning, according to financial websites, as investors face another heavy day of corporate earnings and await the Fed results.


In the US last night, the Dow fell a point to 15,521, the Nasdaq Composite rose 17 points to 3,616 and the S&P500 was flat at 1,686.

In Asia today, the Nikkei was recently down 135 points at 13,734 and the Hang Seng ahead 48 points at 22,002.

WTI crude oil traded at $103.08 a barrel and Brent crude at $106.91.

Gold settled at $1,324 an ounce.


In another busy corporate diary today, interim results are due from 4Imprint Group, Aer Lingus Group, Antofagasta, British American Tobacco, Centrica, Devro, Dignity, Essentra, F&C Asset Management, First Quantum Minerals, Genel Energy, HydroDec Group, Mecom Group, Millennium & Copthorne Hotels, Group, Rightmove, Segro, Smurfit Kappa Group, St James's Place, Tarsus Group, Taylor Wimpey, Tullow Oil, Vedanta Resources, Volkswagen and Xchanging.

Final results are scheduled from Angle, WS Atkins and Greene King.

Trading statements are expected from Brewin Dolphin Holdings and Greencore Group.

Better Capital Pcc, CML Microsystems, Creon Resources, James Cropper, Environmental Recycling Tech., Hansa Trust, Hyder Consulting, Mytrah Energy, Parallel Media Group and Ram Active Media host their AGMs.
