- Jardine Cycle & Carriage's after-tax profits fell to $1,177m in the nine months to the end of September - 22% down on last time.

Revenues were 15% lower at $11,936m and underlying profit attributable to shareholders fell 13% to $546m.


· Underlying earnings per share down 14%

· Lower rupiah earnings in Astra further reduced on translation to US dollars

· Direct Motor Interests profit up 72%

Chairman Ben Keswick said: "The challenging trading conditions facing Astra are set to continue, and we expect the Group's trading performance to remain little changed for the remainder of the year."
