- Infection prevention group Tristel said the US Environmental Protection Agency had registered its Duo foam-based chlorine dioxide product.

The registration enabled Tristel to market Duo to clean and disinfect hard, non-porous surfaces, the company said.

The federal registration would be followed by state-by-state approvals which the company said it expected to complete by the end of 2018.

First revenues from US were expected to flow during the 2018-19 financial year.

'This first US approval is a very significant step for our company as it enables us to access the largest healthcare market in the world,' chief executive Paul Swinney said.

'It has been our long-held ambition to be recognised as a global brand in the infection prevention industry.'

'An active presence in the US is necessary to achieve this ambition, and now we can build upon the foundation stone laid in our collaboration with Parker to progress confidently towards our goal.'
