- Out-of-hospital medical services provider Totally said its subsidiary About Health had won a two-year contract from the NHS's North Tyneside, North Durham and South Tees clinical commissioning groups, worth about £800k a year.

The contract, with had an option to extend for a further two years, was awarded following a competitive tender process and successful pilot service.

About Health would deliver referral management services (RMS) to the commissioning groups, effective from 1 October 2018.

'I am delighted with the award of this contract, which allows us to build on and expand our existing referral management services,' chief executive Richard Benson said.

'Independent evaluation of our services has shown that it delivers tangible benefits for referring clinicians and for patients, while generating significant savings for the NHS.'

'This is a service that has great transferability across the NHS and we will be working hard to expand the reach of our services.'
