- Savannah Resources said it had submitted an additional mining lease application for mineral sands in Mozambique.

The application applied to an area of 119 square kilometers, which covered a defined mineral resource estimate of 65m tonnes, the company said.

The area was contiguous to two pending Rio Tinto mining lease applications and the application was part of a consolidation of Savannah's and Rio Tinto's projects in the African nation.

'The submission of the application is the last outstanding leasing matter for the consortium and we are delighted to have now completed the full round of applications,' chief executive David Archer said.
