- Simec Atlantis Energy said it had awarded a £4.9m early design work contract for its Uskmouth waste-to-power project in Wales.

The so-called front-end engineering and design contract awarded to sa consortium of WSP UK Limited and RJM Corporation Technical Services.

The work was expected to take around 12 months to complete.

Simec Atlantis Energy is planning to convert a coal-fired power station to generate electricity from 100%-waste derived energy pellets.

The conversion was expected to take 18 months post completion of the FEED study and the converted station would have an operational life of 20 years.
