- Rockfire Resources said it had completed a drilling program at the Double Event gold prospect in Australia's Queensland state on time and within budget.

Drilling had encountered sulphides, including pyrite and galena, at predicted depths.

The samples had been delivered to a lab, with assay results expected within the next week.

'Owing to a much larger and more powerful drilling rig being deployed to Double Event, our intended 10-day program of drilling was substantially reduced, saving both time and money for the company,'chief executive David Price said.

'Our drilling has hit sulphides in positions which were anticipated from our surface mapping and ground magnetics.'

'The laboratory is reporting a reduced back-log of samples at present, so we anticipate that assay results may be back within the week.'
