- Azerbaijan-focused oil company Zenith Energy said the first phase of a well intervention at the Jafarli field had entered its final stage.

The company said a truck-mounted workover rig had run in the hole with a scraper to cleanout the production casing shoe at a depth of 3,904 metres.

During the operation an obstruction was encountered at a depth of 1,830 metres.

As a result, the company pulled the scraper out and performed running in the hole, which successfully cleared the obstruction.

The company's field team were currently running in hole with a tri-cone drill bit, which had successfully cleared the previously-detected obstruction at a depth of 1,830 metres.

The drill bit was expected to reach the target depth of 3,904 metres later on Friday.

Following completion, the company would pull the tri-cone drill-bit out of hole and subsequently re-run a scraper to perform a final cleanout.

It when then begin begin wireline logging to a depth of 3,904 metres.

Construction of the drilling pad was expected to commence immediately after the conclusion of wireline logging.

'Using the Company's A-80 workover rig for these activities has saved Zenith approximately $200k in rig rental costs,' workover and drilling manager Ion Tica said.

'This is an important saving and validates Zenith's strategy of operating its key operational equipment.'
