- Reckitt Benckiser said chief executive Rakesh Kapoor intended retire by the end of 2019 after more than eight years at the helm of the consumer goods giant.

The company said its board had now initiated a formal process to appoint Kapoo'rs successor and would consider both internal and external candidates.

'2020 will herald a new decade and I believe now is a good time for new leadership to take this great company through the next phase of outperformance,' said Kapoor.

He noted that last two years of his tenure had been particularly transformational with the acquisition of infant formula company Mead Johnson and the creation of the company's health and hygiene business units.
