StockMarketWire.com - Packaging group Mondi said it expected to post higher annual earnings amid buoyant demand for cardboard containers.

Underlying Ebitda for the year through December was expected to be above the €1.48bn recorded in the previous year, the company said.

Underlying earnings per share, meanwhile, would rise by 25-29% to 186c-to-192c.

Special item net charges were expected to be around €92m, of which €81m were recognised in the first half.
