- Recruitment company Robert Walters said it had boosted its first-quarter gross profit by 11% following growth in both the UK and abroad.

Gross profit, also referred to as net fee income, in the three months through March rose to £98.6m, or by 10% in constant currency terms.

UK gross profit rose 10%, while in the Europe, Asia Pacific and other international divisions it rose 10%, 9% and 22%, respectively.

The company's headcount rose 4% to 4,277.

'The group delivered a solid set of first quarter numbers, increasing net fee income by 10% year-on-year,' chief executive Robert Walters said.

'All the group's regions delivered growth in net fee income despite economic and political uncertainty in a number of markets, particularly the UK and France.'

'Current trading is in line with market expectations for the full year.'
