- Bowling alley operator Ten Entertainment Group said it had grown its sales by 9.6% in the first half, as cooler weather helped boost footfall.

In a trading update ahead of the release of its first-half results, the company said sales on a like-for-like basis for the six months through June had risen 7.4%.

'The half benefited in like-for-like sales growth as a result of the comparative period experiencing extreme hot weather conditions during May and June 2018,' Ten Entertainment said.

'Underlying like-for-like growth remains stable and encouraging.'

Adjusted Ebitda performance for the first half was expected to be in in line with the company's expectations, and the business is on track to meet expectations for the full year.

'The business has shown strong growth in the first half driven by the continuous improvement of the quality of the customer proposition and accelerated investment in digital marketing,' chief executive Duncan Garrood said.

'Our expansion plans are on track with the acquisition of two sites in the first half and we are very focused on acquiring further sites in the second half. We look forward to delivering another year of profitable progress.'
