StockMarketWire.com - Vodafone said it had completed the acquisition of Liberty Global's operations in Germany, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Romania for €18.4bn, making it Europe's leading converged operator.
Vodafone would now have 54 million cable and fibre households 'on net' and a total next-generation network reach of 124 million homes and businesses. It said 'almost half' of its consumer European service revenues now came from growing fixed and converged services.
'Not only have we reshaped our business [with this acquisition], becoming the owner of the largest gigabit-capable next generation network infrastructure in the region, we are now able to play our part in realising the digital society for millions of customers,' said CEO Nick Read said.
