- Rockhopper Exploration said testing work had commenced at a well in Egypt that encountered oil split across several intervals.

Rockhopper holds a 22% working interest in the Abu Sennan concession, which hosted the Al Jahraa-7 well.

After being drilling to a total depth of 3,970 metres, initial petrophysics indicated net pay over five intervals, of 7 metres, 4 metres, 9 metres, 6 metres and 5 metres.

'A series of well tests of the Abu Roash-E and Bahariya reservoirs has commenced, initially with the rig on location and subsequently following release of the rig,' Rockhopper said.

'These operations remain ongoing.'
