- Security services provider Serco said it had secured a two-year contract extension from the Australian government to provide onshore immigration detention facilities and detainee services.

The new contract would allow for a two-year extension from the existing contract's 10 December end date.

It also allowed for a second extension of up to two years from the new end date.

Serco would provide services to the onshore immigration detention network in Australian States and Territories, including Christmas Island.

These would include accommodation, transport and escort, access control, induction, welfare, education, programs and activities, catering, incident management, and property and facilities management.

Serco said it would now enter discussions with the government to finalise the terms of the extension.
