StockMarketWire.com - Europa Oil & Gas welcomed a clarification from the Irish government that indicated that a phasing out of oil exploration licences would not effect existing licences.

On 23 September, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar said the government intended to pahse out all oil exploration licences in the future.

'We welcome the clarification provided by the Irish Government that existing offshore Ireland licences remain valid,' chief executive Hugh Mackay said.

'Europa has a large exploration position in Ireland, which includes our flagship Inishkea gas prospect that lies on the same play as, and is located close to, the producing Corrib gas field.'
