- Transport company National Express said Spanish and Moroccan division ALSA has won a bus contract in Casablanca, expected to secure more than €1bn in revenue over a 15-year term.

The contract would start in November with an initial 400 buses in operation, increasing to 700 buses next year carrying 100m passengers annually.

As well as operating the bus services, the contract included responsibilities to introduce new payment and scheduling systems, alongside a network re-design.

'This nearly doubles our presence in Morocco, which had already doubled in August with Rabat's successful start-up,' chief executive Dean Finch said.

'We will now operate more buses in Morocco than the UK.'
