- Cairn Energy said an exploration well offshore Mexico was found to be dry following drilling.

The exploration target of the Alom-1 well on Block 9 was to prove hydrocarbons in stacked Pleistocene targets, but the objectives were found to be dry and the well would now be permanently plugged and abandoned, the company said.

Cairn said it move onto drilling a second operated well on Block 9, Bitol-1, with operations expected to commence in November 2019.
