StockMarketWire.com - Security services company Westminster said talks between Meridian Port Services and the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority were close to being finalised, potentially advancing a contract for the company.

In September, the company announced that the Scanport Westminster partnership, a contractor for x-ray screening and secondary search operations of containers passing through the new Tema Container Port, was receiving payments on account for work undertaken.

Those payments were being made whilst awaiting formal signing of contracts to be completed once certain financial arrangements between Meridian Port Services and the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority had been put in place.

'The company is pleased to note that the ongoing discussions between Meridian Port Services and the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority are reported to have made significant progress and are close to being finalised,' Westminster said.

'The company will update the market further on this managed services contract once the contracts are signed.'

Westminster gave the update after acknowledging a recent rise in its share price and recent article in the Ghanaian press about the deal's progress.
