- US stocks dipped in early trading, marking an end to a generally upbeat week, as spooked investors appeared to consolidate recent positions following an overnight media spat with the newly elected President, Donald Trump.

Shortly after the open, the Dow was down 50.34 points at 20,569.43, the S&P 500 fell 3.81 points to 2,343.41, while the Nasdaq dropped 2.58 points to 5,812.32.

UnitedHealth Group and Chevron were the early fallers on the Dow, while Nasdaq listed Kraft rose almost 8% on news of its attempted bid to takeover Unilever.

At 2:55pm (GMT), WTI crude was lower at $53.05/bbl as was Brent at $55.25/bbl. Gold was trading around $1,242/oz.
