StockMarketWire.com - Centamin's annual gold production fell 13% following an 'operationally challenging' year, but was roughly in-line with expectations provided October last year.

Full-year gold production for 2018 was 472,418 ounces, a 13% reduction on the previous year, and roughly in line with the already lowered guidance of 480,000 ounces.

Production was boosted in the fourth-quarter of the year, which saw output jump 17% to 137,600 ounces from the third quarter driven by higher grades from both the open pit and underground, the company said.

'We look forward to 2019, where the focus remains on ensuring delivery of grade and as such gold production from Sukari, supported by tight cost control across all areas of the organisation and returns for our shareholders,' said Andrew Pardey, CEO.
