StockMarketWire.com - Chester West and Chester Council has validated IGas Energy's planning application for a proposed project at its site in Ellesmere Port.

The proposed project is to carry out further tests on the rock formation called the Pentre Chert, including a flow test, to better understand the volumes of gas it contains.

IGas said that subject to the receipt of planning consent and the relevant environmental permits, this operation would utilise the existing well and no additional drilling would be required.

IGas said the application met CWaC's requirements in the required format and it would undergo a period of public consultation before planning officers made a recommendation to the planning committee.

IGas said it has been engaging with various local stakeholders over the last few weeks and would hold a public exhibition as part of the public consultation.
