- Salt Lake Potash said field trials have been successfully completed for an evaporation pond model that could reduce capital expenditure at its Goldfields Salt Lakes Project.

Engineering consultant Amec Foster Wheeler had estimated using an alternative plastic-lined pond method could be up to 25 times more expensive than for unlined ponds.

"We are very pleased to have successfully demonstrated and quantified the potential for on-lake, unlined evaporation ponds at the GSLP," chief executive Matt Syme said.

"The importance of this outcome cannot be understated."
