- Publishing group Bloomsbury said Monday one of its authors had won the Golden Man Booker prize, on Sunday.

Following a public vote to decide the winner, The English Patient by Michael Ondaatje won for the best work of fiction from the last five decades of the prize, Bloomsbury said.

Two of the five books nominated were published by Bloomsbury, which will be hoping for related sales boost.

'Congratulations to Michael Ondaatje - I am absolutely delighted that The English Patient has received this recognition from a public vote,' said Nigel Newton, Chief Executive of Bloomsbury.
