StockMarketWire.com - MC Mining said South African authorities had granted a mining right for its 74%-owned Chapudi coking and thermal coal project in Limpopo province.

The Chapudi prospect, containing over 6.3bn gross tonnes in situ of inferred coal resources, was part of the broader Greater Soutpansberg project, which also included the Mopane and Generaal phases.

The Mopane and Generaal mining right applications were at an advanced stage and the company anticipated they would be granted in the near future.

'Following this, the company will commence with the various studies required for the outstanding water and environmental regulatory approvals,' chief executive David Brown said.
